Melbourne W6 998 Restoration Complete

Following the completion of major internal body modification work, Melbourne W6 998 ran in passenger traffic for the first time as a trial on Tuesday 17 March, with good results. 

Tram 998 has had modifications made by PETS to the drop-centre, to enhance access and space for passengers with impaired mobility, and especially to accommodate more wheelchairs and mobility aids. These are easily loaded and unloaded at the special floor-level platforms and ramps provided by Whiteman Park Management at key tram stops. 998 will be used primarily for midweek (Tuesday and Friday) services during school terms, where this facility is most needed.
