Last Tram Over The Old Tramway Triangle

On Sunday the 21st of July, Melbourne tram W7 1017 became the last tram to operate along the 'old' tramway triangle, which as of the 22nd of July is being rebuilt as part of the Whiteman Park Tramway Extension Project. 

By the 21st of July only the section connecting the Village and Mussel Pool remained, with the other two sections of the triangle having already been removed.

The rainy weather which the park experienced on the 21st represents the feelings that many members of PETS felt about the rebuilding of the triangle, which has faithfully served the tramway for over 40 years. But the progress already made on the extension leaves no doubt that there are great things to come four our tramway.
